How Much Does It Cost?
How Much Does It Cost?
How much do you have? 😀
Actually, my reply to this question is usually ‘How much do you want to spend?’ Within reason, any decent designer can fit a site to a given budget. As you pare down the price, you have to omit features and dial back expectations, but often that isn’t a bad thing. Unfortunately, often people have unrealistic expectations.
In short, in my not altogether unbiased opinion, I offer the best balance you will find between great work and a great price.
So my suggestion is that we start like this, “I have xxxx to spend and I want to do yyyyy” That’s a fine way to start the conversation. I then ask you some questions and then I tell you what I can do within that budget. Will it be what you want? Aye, there’s the rub. The truth is that a good designer/developer can generally design a web site within several price points. If I know what your budget is, I’ll do my best to create something good within that constraint.
So not to be a scold, but the only thing guys like me tend to not appreciate is spending a lot of time discussing your site when you already have that dollar amount in mind. We might spend an hour discussing all the very cool things you want to do and then you tell me you only want to spend $399. That just wastes everyone’s time.
